CityToolBox.net is an online platform for the dissemination and sharing of tools for transformation and urban appropriation developed in partnership by six European organizations funded and coordinated by the program Actors of Urban Change.
In this context, the 4iS – Platform for Social Innovation invited Colectivo Warehouse and the community of Aveiro to collaborate for the renovation of a small square called Largo de São Sebastião.
The intervention goal was to renovate the space by creating new furniture while at the same time enhancing the already existing elements of this public space in the city centre of Aveiro. Through collaborative design sessions and participatory construction, warehouse took care of the maintenance of the existing urban furniture and the creation of new tables, benches and a counter top.
Colectivo Warehouse was responsible for the coordination of the design and construction process by leading several workshops for one week to involve the community in the all parts of the process.
